Learning from Sadness

Have you ever seen an empty vessel
sunk into a shallow sea?
Brine and bone, and all alone,
is what we're destined for eventually.

Have you ever heard a wailing mother,
weeping for her fallen son?
And his child and widowed bride,
staring at his coffin stunned?
